I made a PROMISE to my mother that my brother did not die in vain. SO I KEPT MY PROMISE & I TOOK THE PLEDGE to continue honoring my brother for his devotion to helping people with estate planning, helping his fellow men and his love of water. He was a Coast Guard Veteran that loved the water so much that he wanted to retire early and just go fishing. In the early morning of September 13, 2011, his dream was shatter, but his legacy will live on by going fishing for Homicide Survivors victims of the Rio Grande Valley, Texas.
On May 02, 2014 we created a 100% Homicide Victim Survivor dedicated organization a (first-of-its-kind) in the Rio Grande Valley. It is with great honor and humility that I Robert Garcia, CEO/President and founder of the organization came out of the shadows of grief and despair to begin advocating and providing services to all Homicide Victim Survivors of Hidalgo County.
DEDICATED IN MEMORY OF MY BROTHER
So on October 31, 2011, we send a letter of interest in starting a Rio Grande Valley POMC chapter, giving the background on whom we lost and when the loss occurred including information pending the Murder-Suicide case of our brother Rogelio "Roger" Garcia.
FAITH, LOVE AND PROMISE KEPT!
The heinous murder of my brother Rogelio "Roger" Garcia on September 13, 2011, in Harlingen Texas came to reality, and it was too much for my family to accept. His death left a massive void in my parents and my siblings who were left with this pain of extreme loneliness. Due to the shock and confusion of his murder, we had no comprehension of why his life was so quickly taken from us. In searching for answers and help we reach out to the National Organization of Parents Of Murdered Children (POMC), Inc., a tax-exempt organization under the Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service.
Therefore, on August 27, 2012, on the eve of his one year Murder Anniversary, I received a letter from the National POMC stating that were in the last step of the approval process for a startup local chapter in the Rio Grande Valley. However, on September 16, 2013, I decide to be the NATIONAL POMC CONTACT PERSON for the Rio Grande Valley area.
